Treats the Danish species of the families Sphingidae, Notodontidae, Drepanidae, Thyatiridae, Thaumatopoeidae, Lymantriidae, Lasiocampidae, Lemoniidae, Endromididae, Saturniidae, Arctiidae, Zygaenidae, Sesiidae, Psychidae, Limacodidae, Cossidae and Hepialidae. The colour plates illustrate the adult moths in photographs and the larvae of most of the species in watercolours. Though somewhat old now, this is still the only book on the north European species of these families and it has, since the publication of the first edition in 1948, been a "bible" for north European lepidopterists.
