Notes:
The cognitive enthusiasm and the analyzing strategy of this book serve a similar purpose: to reveal the connection between a Bulgarian saying and a Latin proverb. The saying is Baj Ganjo`s: "Are you welcoming, lass, are you welcoming? I like your welcoming …" And the Latin proverb is: "It is best where the home land it." The insight into the morphology of the Bulgarian ethnic community in Czech lands, the description and the interpretation of its interests and values has been carried out at two levels: the questionnaire survey situation, the demographic analysis and the direct communication between representative informants and experienced field workers. This ethnologic and anthropologic study outlines the prior and present images of the Czech attractiveness for Bulgarians. The immigration of Bulgarian gardeners is described, the reasons for the misunderstandings between Bulgarians and Czechs are explained, a picture of the Bulgarian ethnic group in the Czech Republic in 1991 is taken, many attempts at deciphering the psycho-social and the national identity of the Bulgarians are made, their episodic memory is determined. The results of the investigation have a strong proof value in themselves and in connection with comparative studies in the history of communities. The book is intended for all people who take an interest in social and cultural anthropology and would like to know more about the Bulgarians around the world.
