The book deals with the specific nature of simultaneous speech (synchrolallia), the successor to the most ancient form of language communication - group speech. The study makes an attempt to give an answer to questions like: through what system of notions and analytic devices could the structural and functional features of a text arising in the conditions of simultaneous speech be described? Which are the basic types of texts in simultaneous speech? What are their formal, semantic and pragmatic characteristics? An answer to these and other questions can be found in this book, which represents the first independent investigation of the phenomenon. The peculiarities of the phenomenon are described on the basis of abundant material from the oral speech of Russians and with the help of an original approach synthesizing the research experience of different sciences - philological and non-philological, "classical" and new.
