These Readings are compiled following the pattern of the learning materials published by the Department of Bulgarian Language at St. Climent Ohridski University of Sofia that serve not only for the students` preparation for term examinations but also as an aid for individual studying - for writing course and diploma theses, while working for seminar exercises, state examinations, etc. The book is mainly for philology students but it would also be of use for all students of the contemporary Bulgarian language, for teachers of Bulgarian and for all people who take an interest in the problems of Modern Literary Bulgarian. The selected bibliography at the end of the book contains the most-important contributions published during the last two decades (after the previous 1978 edition with the same title), whereby the scholarly information is further expanded. The articles in the book have been reprinted from their original sources without any editing.
