In the first part of the book some theoretical problems concerning the study of child language are discussed. A review is made of the forerunners of communication in the pre-verbal stage of child development and the semantic and pragmatic characteristics of utterances in the one-word developmental stage. The second part of the monograph deals with the Bulgarian child language. The author makes a description and an analysis of a natural experiment she carried out with Bulgarian children aged between 1 year and 4 months and 2 years and 9 months.
