The present momograph is the outcome of a long-term international study of the processes of biodiversity evolution at a microsite situated in the "Evolution Canyon", Mt. Carmel, Israel. In the first volume 315 species of beetles belonging to 10 families are listed. Each species record is completed with distributional map within Israel, as well as data on ecology, general distribition and references. The book is a significant contribution to the fauna, distribution and ecology of the beetles of the Near East.
