Based on long-term collection and observation made by the authors in different regions of the Asian Russia. The main body consists of short articles on more than 400 species of butterflies known or once reported from the Urals, Siberia, and the Far East of Russia. For each species are listed: Latin name, main recently used synonyms are listed, if any, type locality, data on geographic distribution, in all cases mapped on large-scale maps of Asian Russia, biotopic preference and, in some cases, interesting peculiarities of behaviour of the imagines, flight period, life history, preimaginal stages (briefly described). The minimum of the key characters necessary for species identification is also given. At the end of each paragraph a list of subspecies ranging in the territory considered and main indications is enclosed. In many cases, the species` article ends with systematic notes and some information on the etimology of the taxon`s name.
