Notes:
The present work is the first attempt in collecting and systematization of the data about the species diversity, taxonomy, distribution, ecological specificities and economic importance of the fungi on grapevine which are known from the Balkan Peninsula. This is the first regional guide on those fungi in the Balkan peninsula. Over 140 fungal species causing diseases on grapevine have been described so far, and over 100 of them have been recorded from the Balkan Peninsula, as well. However, the data in the available literature are inaccurate because of the changes in recent years of the taxonomic status and nomenclature of a large number of taxa (species, genera, orders). The axonomic specification of the fungi included in the guide complies with the contemporary understandings about the species, variation and formation of fungi.
