Notes:
Generalized Nets (GNs) are extensions of Petri nets. In the book the basic definitions and properties related to the concept "GN" are introduced and a review of the research on GNs is given. Ways of GN representations of functioning and performance results of various types of systems (in the sense of the abstract systems theory of M. Mesarovich and Y. Takahara) are discussed. Some applications of GNs in chemistry, telecommunications, astronomy, medicine are described. The author works in the Centre for Biomedical Modelling of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria and is also a Honorary Associate of the University of Technology of Sydney, Australia.
