The author of this book, Dr. Naina Ivanovna KUDRYASHOVA is a well-known specialist on chigger mites, who described more than 70 new species and other taxa from the Euroasia. The monograph is the first revision of chigger mites (family Trombiculidae) of the fauna of East Palearctics (including territories of the former Soviet Union and adjacent countries, mainly Mongolia and Iran). Data on 246 species, 42 genera, 4 tribes, and 4 subfamilies are presented. Among them, 12 species and 2 genera are described as new for science. In general part, data on external morphology of chigger mites, history of their study, classification, distribution, host-parasite relationships, and evolution are given. In taxonomic part, original illustrated descriptions of all species, diagnoses of higher taxa and identification keys of all taxa are provided. Distribution maps of species and genera are presented too. 149 tabs., 278 figs., 520 references.
